John Rickenbaker Burial Ground

John Rickenbaker Burial Ground This is a small overgrown family burial ground in a grove of trees in the middle of a field off Schulmer Road (See Map). It contains only two graves.

Sacred / To the Memory of / Elizabeth Rickenbaker / Who departed this life / April 1st 18__. / Aged about 61 years.
 
Sacred / To the Memory of / John Rickenbaker / Who was born / Feby. 21st 1808 / and departed this life / Oct. 30 th 1871.


Josiah Rickenbaker Burial Ground

Josiah Rickenbaker Burial Ground This is a small family burial ground in a fenced off area of a pasture off East Orange Road near the old East Orange School house (See Map). It contains four graves.

Nicholas Rickenbaker Burial Ground This is a small overgrown family burial ground in a grove of trees off Church Camp Road near Mt. Carmel Church (See Map). It contains only two graves.

In Memory / of / Nicholas Rickenbacker / Deacon of the Mount Carmel / Baptist Church / Departed this Life 17th Dec. 1851 / Aged 67 Years and 4 Days

The picture shows Nicholas's stone standing on the right. Mary's stone is on the left and has fallen over. Her foot stone is just visible on the far left.
 


Samuel E. Rickenbacker Family Cemetery

This is a small family cemetery off Whisperwood Road W of Cameron, SC (See Map). It contains eight graves.

Samuel E. Rickenbaker, b. June 21, 1811, d. July 20, 1880

Elizabeth M. [Keller] Rickenbacker, d. January 21, 1843, Age 24 years 9 months 12 days, Wife of Samuel E. Rickenbacker.

Margaret S. Rickenbacker, d. September 1, 1849, Age 8 years 1 month 5 days.

Mary A. C. Rickenbacker, d. August 17, 1859, Age 19 years 28 days, Wife of F. N. Rickenbacker.

Mary A. F. Rickenbacker, d. August 16, 1859, Daughter od F. N. and M. A. C. Rickenbacker.

S. W. [Samuel Warner] Rickenbacker, d. August 26, 1862, 1 year 6 months 6 days.

F. N. [Frederick Nicholas] Rickenbacker, d. September 23, 1862, 24 years 8 months and 17 days.

Samuel James Parler, Born June 20 and died July 10, 1873, Son of Rev. W. R. and M. J. Parler.

Old Pioneer Cemetery

The Old Pioneer Cemetery is the original Churchyard Cemetery for the village of Orangeburgh. It is located at the intersection of Bull and Middleton Streets, behind the A. S. Salley Archives.

There are two Rickenbackers buried in the Old Pioneer Cemetery. Samuel was the son of Jacob Rickenbacker, but Elizabeth is an enigma. She must be a wife of one of the third generation Rickenbackers, but which one?

Elizabeth W. / Rickenbacker / who departed this life / on the 15th Jany 1852 / aged about 90 Years / She was a native of Cork / Ireland; / arrived in America / in the year 1792 / and has resided 60 Years / in South Carolina.

Sacred / to the memory / of / Samuel Rickenbaker / who departed this life / on the 17th of July 1740 / in the 47th year / of his age.
