After Hurricane Rita, September 27, 2005

Rita was scary. It came ashore on the Texas Louisiana border as a category 3 storm. The SW Louisiana Coast was devastated. Here at Sea Isle the tidal surge was only about 4 feet. The growing dune was damaged but not destroyed. We were lucky. Rita was initially forecast to come ashore around Palacios. Had it done so we would have almost certainly sustained major damage.
